Municipal Unit of Domnista

Stretching to the southeast of the prefecture of Evritania, the Municipal Unit of Domnista is a mountainous municipal unit and consists of the following municipal districts: Municipal District of Krikello, Municipal District of Ampliani, Municipal District of Domnista, Municipal District of Mesokomi, Municipal District of Roska, Municipal District of Stavloi, Municipal District of Psiana.

Its area includes the famous “Pantavrechi” (i.e. “It always rains”) gorge, as well as an abundance of great points to be discovered. Discover each village separately and unlock their secrets.

In the Municipal Unit of Domnista…

…You can drink cool water from the 7 fountains, in the central square of the verdant Krikello with the cathedral of Agios Nikolaos, before you going to the historic Domnista where the local museum will unfold before you significant moments of the area in modern Greek history.

…You can visit the village of Ampliani to dance on the paved square of “Stegos”, where every year on the feast day of Agia Paraskevi the namesake local dance is held, that is not danced anywhere else.

…You can decide whether the village of Stavloi (i.e. Stables) took its name from the palaces and stables of the mythical king Evrytus- who also gave his name to Evritania- that were allegedly located in the area, or from the stables of the queen of Frankish knights that were found here.

…You will be impressed by the imposing church of Panagia in Mesokomi, a building that since 1911 looks somehow out of place in this land. Slightly larger than any other you have seen in the surrounding areas, it features an architectural style that is unusual in this place…

…You can embark on an adventure in nature, follow the unused trail of
“Kolouglep”, to the east of the village Roska. The trail connects the village with other villages of the area.

…You can look for the “Ktisma” (i.e. “Building”), to the east of Psiana village, where walls with huge stones are preserved indicating the existence of a powerful fortress of the Mesolithic period.
